Assets Backup

Scheduled backups for Jira Service Management Assets schemas, deployed to your own site from source.

Assets Backup automatically saves copies of the Assets schemas you choose, with a schedule and retention period for each plan. Jira administrators manage plans, monitor runs, and download ZIPs from one admin page. It is open source (MIT): you register and deploy it to your own Jira Cloud site yourself. Backups stay in Forge Object Store, with no external egress or developer-operated backend. Restoring data into Assets requires a separate import app.

  • Per-plan schedules

Create up to 20 plans, each with its own schemas, weekdays, and start hour in Europe/Copenhagen time. The hourly trigger starts backups within the selected hour.

  • Automatic retention

Keep each backup for 1 to 30 days, with automatic expiry and cleanup in Forge Object Store.

  • Downloadable ZIPs

Each backup uses the Assets Out export package format, version 2, with CSV files, schema definitions, object data, and manifests.

  • Run history

See recent runs, download past backups, and identify unreadable schemas or failed object types from the admin page and backup manifests.

  • Back up on demand

Run a plan immediately, or pause its schedule while keeping existing backups until they expire.

  • Read-only access

Reads Assets as the app account, only in schemas where it has a role. The app has no Assets write scopes.
